Defeating Gandhi...

24th and 26th July 2008: Terror strikes India again, and we helplessly assume a state of constant fear, and an unforced, unconditional anxiety.

We live in an era where the word "Humanity" holds two meanings...one which exists only in Holy Books and the other in the world in which Humans exist...
-Priteesh C.

I can now say with assurance that we rightly call Gandhi as the father of this nation. We are accepting slaps after slaps on our faces, with a deceiving hope that our neighbors will co-operate. That WAS the most practical solution with best possible outcomes. May be they are not happy with the phenomenal progress we are making, and they choose to be the thorns in the running feet, unaware of the fact that we can carry them along. Again, root cause being, typical "Human" behavior is an absolute rarity nowadays, as expressed by myself earlier.

Changing minds is important. Terrorists in a way are quite unclouded. They know what their goal is. They are dedicated and determined. That is a positive trait they hold, unlike us. Also, we do not learn from them. We move on with our lives like any other day. A dedicated youth only can make a change. A casual attitude is the last thing we want. An alert and vigil mind will detect any foul play promptly. A short term memory too is not desirable. We need to learn from our mistakes made in the past and remember the learning with practical application so as to avoid early damage.

We must change our minds, and also try to bring about a change in theirs. Considering the intensity of fan following in certain subjects among us, it is not difficult to imagine that all celebrities collectively standing for a noble cause can bring about a drastic change in their minds. I believe their source of entertainment is not anything out of a few selected arenas- film, cricket, music, etc. And I believe there must be some sort of malleability or impressionability left in them. (If they are not really that primitive as yet!).

Yes, changing minds is indeed important! We must now defeat the Gandhi in us. Even Bose was a dedicated leader! I wonder why we ignore him so much. Treating a single part won’t cure the disease. Putting out a flame won’t end the fire. Containing a side stream won’t stop the flood. Similarly catching hold of a handful of terrorists won’t end terrorism. We must reach the roots and destroy them, i.e. Afghanistan, Pakistan and the allied. Bose was indeed one step ahead of every one else! Innocent lives will be lost, but I would prefer calling it a “Sacrifice”. A sacrifice for a better, brighter future. For the world to be a better place to live in. Where “Humanity” in its pure form would REGAIN existence...

Feel free to type your views and suggestions regarding this issue.

I think it is high time the celebs take an initiative in public awareness ... totally agree with ur concept ... instead of hooking up with the star of the movie about to be released, they need to increase public awareness ...

Job well done ...

Hmm.... Finally someone agrees with me on the point that we need to move out of Gandhi's shadow. His way of operation (according to me) never worked before nor will it ever work.

Following Gandhi's way, we just meekly surrendered under the delusion that 'Ahimsa' is the right way to change people. WE lost millions of lives just because of a foolish thought put forth by Gandhi.

Man since the primitive ages has been a hunter and will always hunt the weak to gain power and fulfill his needs.

India got independence only because Britain had undergone a change in mindset because of the losses they encountered during WW II.

Coming to the point made by you, it is high time celebrities and we as the driving force of the nation realise our responsibilities and start taking things more seriously and work towards building a vigilant society.

Nice article. Well written !!

Gandhi may have largely been responsible for freeing us from the undesirable British regime and it is truly a commendable effort he made...

But he has not delivered us, freedom, from the very same fault that welcomed the British invasion with arms wide open to begin with… our lack of discipline and unity.
Let me put is this way...India was immuno-compromised, and the British were the opportunistic infection...
Our political decay was their proliferating medium.
However, our leaders holistically combated this infection, and it was overcome...
Unfortunately, our convalescing country was deprived of post-trauma nursing... and it imperceptibly and silently began to sink.
Now, we suffer from an auto-immune disease, and its cure seems distant.

Yes, it is up to us, to change, to heal, to cure, to restore and to maintain thereafter.
Hostile influences are many, but it is not sufficient to attend to those alone, our vital force is in dire need of some self-treatment.

we'll just talk about the system, disaster n terrorism for couple of minutes, hours or days and then after we'll again get busy in our own lives... but this will keep going on and on and on.... a slap after slap....
the biggest question is.... is it enough??? who gonna take an initiative for that???????????? the youth needs to unite for a sole purpose and that too must be result oriented.

@ Ajay: Thanks buddy!
@ Vibhu: Thats true. We must unite. Otherwise this parasite of terrorism will eat us up and deprive us of nutrition. A country which is sprinting towards richness and prosperity cannot afford these hurdles.
This is the height of secularism. Terrorists have become tourists!
